WasteSorted SCHOOLS PROGRAM SUPPORT IN SOUTHERN SUBURBS
WasteSorted Schools Program Support in Southern Suburbs
The WA Chapter has secured a contract with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation for the provision of targeted educational strategies for avoidance and recovery of waste in the school context in the southern suburbs on behalf of the DWER for a period of three (3) years from 3 February 2020 to 2 February 2023. Schools will be supported to conduct audits of waste in schools and plan to reduce this over time. Teachers will receive professional support and opportunities to secure grants to assist in projects.
ABOUT THE WasteSorted Schools (WSS) Program
WasteSorted Schools (WSS) is a State government program funded through the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Account and administered by the Waste Authority. It offers resources and support for schools to plan, implement and maintain waste avoidance and waste recovery/reuse projects such as recycling, composting and worm farming.
The program provides professional learning workshops or webinars, curriculum linked teaching resources, waste audit support and grants.

The AAEE WasteSorted Schools Support Officer can provide the following support to Southern metropolitan schools:
- running a waste audit
- planning for the WSS Accreditation process
- staff presentations
- grant project planning and support.
